The former Sibley and Warner Farms in Spencer make up one of the most spectacular undeveloped properties in central Massachusetts.
To purchase and care for this property, we need to raise $2.91 million. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of people, we are closing in on our goal!
Now we need YOU to help us get there! Help us cross the finish line and ensure a bright future for this spectacular property with a donation today. We can’t do it without you!
On May 3rd, Mass Audubon’s Board of Directors voted to exercise their option to purchase the 352-acre Sibley and Warner Farms property, an option that otherwise would have expired shortly. Our conservation partnership, which includes three nonprofits (Common Ground Land Trust, Greater Worcester Land Trust, and Mass Audubon), the Town of Spencer, and three state agencies, is planning for an early June purchase.
In agreeing to move forward without all the funds we need, the three non-profit partners have gone out on a limb. On May 3rd we were still $200,000 short of our goal. That’s money we can’t do without, and for us it’s a leap of faith that generous donors will still rally to the cause and step forward to help finish the campaign.
But we’re willing to leap because an opportunity like this comes along once in a lifetime. We’ve heard from so many people how important this property is to save. For its vistas, its wildlife, its clean water and air. For the opportunity to hike, to hunt, to fish, to snowmobile. For a place where children can play and learn and explore the outdoors.
So please help by making a donation or pledge today! Saving this land is something we will all be proud of the rest of our lives. Please join us!
